Lehigh & New England Railroad Motor Car on display until end of March

Close out #AnthraciteHeritageMonth by visiting a rare and unique piece of Lehigh Valley history on display now through the end of March! Visitors can check out this original Lehigh & New England Railroad car owned by Volunteer Railroaders. Located in the lobby of the National Museum of Industrial History, Bethlehem, PA 602 E 2nd St, Bethlehem, PA 18015 (610) 694-6644 info@nmih.org

This car was manufactured by Sheffield and is a model 40-B speeder, a car used to move crew members along the Lehigh & New England’s railroad lines. Sheffield/Fairbanks Morse motor cars were manufactured in Three Rivers, Michigan. By about 1910, the company was making Handcars and Rail Velocipedes. Sheffield moved to gas powered cars as time went by.

Unfortunately, parties unknown stole the trailer that we use to bring the car to different events. We were very thankful the thief did NOT steal the motor car. Faced with a difficult decision, our small volunteer group chose to spend all the money we’d earned and saved for the restoration as well as take out a loan so that the car could be seen by the public.

We would sincerely appreciate your contributions. https://www.gofundme.com/f/lehigh-new-england-rr-motorcar-restoration
